I would just love to give a shout out to a man, who at least in my hopes and dreams, sees through the illusion of social construct. That man is Bill Murray.
For a while now, there have been so many stories floating around the Webernet (Yup, I just combined the Web and the Internet) highlighting the amazingly bizarre hi jinks of Bill Murray. The man is amazing and a big part of me hopes he lives the zero-worry lifestyle because he is enlightened to enough to realize that he is in a position to bypass social conformity and live in a world in which he roams the planet seeking any and every experience that might give him joy and connect with other humans.
Here are a few stories to highlight what I’m talking about:
Bill Murray crashes Engagement photos
In May, 2014, wedding photographer Raheel Gauba was out on a photo shoot with Erik Rogers and Ashley Donald, when suddenly the expressions on their faces went from candid to pure shock. Gauba told The Post and Courier: “I thought who the heck is bothering them? I turn around and it’s Bill Murray with his shirt up, belly out, tapping his belly and trying to make them laugh.” Gauba invited Murray over to pose with the young couple for a few shots, to which he obliged, and then took off.
Bill Murray reads poetry to construction workers
During construction of the Poet’s House, a library in Manhattan, Bill Murray stops by to read poems to the construction workers who are working on the building. In the middle of reading, he says, “It gets worse. If you want to take a sick day, do it now.” Workers laugh and take photos with their cell phones.
Bill Murray parties and clean dishes
The story goes, Bill Murray was in Scotland for a golf tournament and during a night out drinking he ran into Swedish student Lykke Stavnef. Lykke and her friend invited Bill to come party with them and guess what? He did. Not only that when it turned out there were no clean dishes, Bill decided to tackle the washing up himself, doing all the dishes before he left the party. Murray is also said to have drank vodka from a coffee cup, what a cool guy.
There are so many of these examples. Some of the more extreme are more than likely fabricated, but you can safely assume that if there is a photograph to back it up, it’s just Bill Murray being amazing.
